Make your travel to Costa Rica climate neutral–offset your flight emissions

Why choose to offset

Increasing temperatures from climate change are threatening Costa Rica’s unique biodiversity and all the benefits it provides to visitors and locals.

The average round-trip flight to Costa Rica generates 1.8 metric tons CO2e emissions per passenger–more than the average Costa Rican generates in a year. Offsetting your emissions helps protect Costa Rica’s tourism future, and supports local communities through verified CO2e reductions.

HOW WE CALCULATE FLIGHT EMISSIONS

The United Nations aggregates airline carbon emissions data from 190+ reporting countries, including aircraft types, fuel consumption, passenger/freight ratios and passenger load factors. Using this and a radiative forcing factor of 1.9 we calculate emissions of round-trip flights from throughout Canada, Europe and the US to San Jose and Liberia, Costa Rica.
