Calculating CO2e emissions
We collaborate in measuring emissions our tours create including all flights, hotel nights and ground transportation, using data from the EPA, DEFRA, United Nations ICAO and the Cornell Hotel Sustainability Benchmarking Index.
Offsetting CO2e emissions
We offset all measured emissions through Offset Alliance’s portfolio of global projects, all independently verified to meet the highest global standards from Gold Standard, Verra, The United Nations and Climate Action Reserve.
Extending our climate impact
We extend our climate impact by offsetting 25% more than our tours’ measured emissions. Additionally, Offset Alliance donates 2% of their top line revenues to non-profits who are helping make communities more climate resilient.
How carbon offsets lower travel emissions
Projects around the world are being funded and created to lower CO2 levels in our atmosphere–like rebuilding forests, conserving wild lands and installing renewable energy in less developed countries. When projects are verified to be following specific protocols, they can generate and sell carbon offset credits, measured by metric tons of CO2e reduced. These are an important funding source for a project’s ongoing operations–when you purchase verified carbon offset credits, you are ensuring a reduction of CO2 through measurable and verifiable means.

Reaching Net Zero emissions requires more than CO2e reductions and offsets. It requires fixing societal inequalities that undermine progress and sustainability.
To help address this, Offset Alliance donates 2% of top line revenues to 501(c)(3) partner charities whose work is foundational to helping ensure that the positive environmental impact we’re making through CO2e reductions can be sustained well into the future. Charities delivering on these United Nations Sustainable Development Goals are given priority:
